about

‘O forgotten telepathy, ancient tongue you won’t speak with me, casting out all my dreams to your scattered skies’

This song is about trying to get to the depths of someone who is afraid to throw themselves open and be unguarded. I am asking the person to unravel so we can begin a more intimate relationship and create a language, which we will only find the words for if we are both willing to be vulnerable.

lyrics

Come show me how you love a little
I clipped wayward wings not to feel flight
come let me know your tenderness
the silent songs in your caress
keep my heart tied

Oh forgotten telepathy
ancient tongue you won’t speak with me
casting out all my dreams
to your scattered skies

So I might find you
one day I might find you
my love it won’t deny you
all that you hold inside

She sang of a magic ring that made her finger green
I’ve come to learn just what she means
in the dark of seeing light

Oh forgotten telepathy
ancient tongue you won’t speak with me
casting out all my dreams
to your scattered skies

So I might find you
one day I might find you
my love it won’t deny you
all that you hold inside

Cause’ there’s a moment where you want to throw yourself open
hold your arms out to the sun, let some hope in
and I want to learn why, I want to know why
cause I’ve seen you ablaze, seen you a-light
unravelling at night sometimes
and I want to learn why, I want to know why

So I might find you
one day I might find you
my voice, my love, could it remind you
what it’s like to come untied

Cause I’ve tried to taste the salt that fills your eyes
to cover up all that divides
lost places in time.
